The Anointing For kingship.

The anointing is a divine ability which God puts in a man through the Holy Spirit to enable him to do extra ordinary works which he would not be able to do by his own ability, strength and wisdom. In 1 Samuel 16:7, God sent Samuel to anoint David king, this anointing was poured upon David in the midst of his brethren. With this anointing David defeated Goliath (1 Samuel 17). This was the first anointing upon the life of David, and it is symbolic of our new birth in Christ . When you get born again, God anoints you with this anointing in the midst of your brethren, like he did David, this anointing is also symbolic of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. David defeated Goliath with this anointing, symbolic of us defeating Satan by the new birth.

In 2 Samuel 2:4, David was anointed the second time to be king over the tribe of Judah. With the second anointing, God enlarged David's domain and territory, though it was not a position to rule over all Israel but to rule over one province. The Lord does not give everything at once, he works in stages, after-all that's how he created the world, in stages, it wasn't in one day, but 7 days and each day had its own task or goal to complete. This anointing is symbolic of the promotion and blessing that will come to every christian by reason of receiving the salivation of Christ, God will first put us in-charge over limited authority.

In 2 Samuel 5:3, God anointed David the third time, this anointing was for kingship over all the nation of Israel. When you are faithful over one tribe God will give you full control over the nation. In money language he will start you with few thousands, if you are faithful, he will increase you to millions, and billions. In ministry language, he may have you lead a small flock, when you prove faithful, he will open doors to lead a global congregation. There is always a higher level in Christ, promotion to promotion, grace to grace, glory to glory, is the life he has called us to live.
