Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12
The reason it is called the fight of faith is because the battle has already been won. 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ. Our fight of faith is based on the victory of the death and resurrection of Christ. The resurrection of Jesus disarmed all the powers of hell put together, and subjected them under our feet. The Lord Jesus overcame the devil, the world, and its systems. All that’s left for you to do as a Christian is to grasp all that He accomplished in your behalf. The Christian is not somebody who is trying to win, because he has already won.
The fight of faith then means to stand against rebellious situations and circumstances until they are subjected to the Word of God. You stand on what the Word says, until everything in your life is aligned to the Word of God. Paul referring to these rebellious circumstances said, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans 8:37).
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us how this fight of faith ought to be fought, it says; For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Let’s not take a look at these weapons in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
1. Pulling Down Strongholds.
Strongholds are thoughts which have governed someone’s mind over a long period of time which argumentatively challenge the integrity of God’s Word. They may be as result of wrong beliefs which someone has encapsulated over a long period of time or wrong habits which have been repeated for so long until society accepted them as truth. With the Word of God we are to pull down these strongholds. The More you expose your mind to the Word, is the more such stronghold get crippled. A change in man’s life can only come when he himself first changes, and for him to change it must be by changing his thoughts.
2. Casting Down Imaginations
The images that continually play in your mind will soon manifest in the physical. Any picture you hold in your mind for a lengthy period of time, your spirit man will accept and create it for you in the fourth dimension and soon it will manifest in your third dimensional world. The images you build with your mind come from either what you have heard or seen, whether negative or positive. This is what you do to negative imagination, Cast them down. Refuse to accept anything that is contrary to the Word of God, say no to negativity.
