And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— (John 14:16) AMP. The Holy Spirit is in us for a reason, he did not just come to stay in you for nothing, he is there because he has a job to do, and knowing why he is in you is very important. When you come to understand this Holy Spirit, life will cease to be a struggle, he is the one to give you sweat less victory, halleluiah!
The Amplified Bible Gives us six synonyms for the Word comforter. Which are, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby
1. Counselor.
When you receive the Holy Spirit he becomes your adviser and instructor on issues of life. There are some decisions which are very important and you might not know what to choose, but the Holy Spirit knows the end from the beginning. You can trust him with your life, he knows the best investments you can make money on, the right person you should marry. 2. Helper.
Psalm 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
The Holy Spirit knows the right people in the right place to help you at the right time. He can get anybody from anywhere to help you, he has that ability to compel men from all over the world to have that inward edge to give you what you need. A child of God can never be at a disadvantage, it doesn’t matter the address you are at, God knows your address. There is somebody you don’t know that God knows and he can easily connect you to that person. He is able to make men think of you, people will just remember your name from all over. Isaiah 60: 10 says, "and the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee."Go and read about the patriarch Abraham and how he acquired his wealth, the guy would enter nations and Kings would give him Money he did not ask for. The Bible say he was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. (Genesis 13:2). If you need help with something don't despair, ask the Holy Spirit. He knows how you can be helped, he knows the simplest way stuff to you.
3. Intercessor.
The Holy Spirit also prays for us through us, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26). This happens when we make groanings in the spirit which cannot be uttered, this is different to praying in tongues. To groan is when sounds come from deep inside your belly, it is the Holy Spirit praying for you according to the perfect will of God for your life. 4. Advocate.
John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. The word advocate relates to someone who stands for you in a court of law, this means the Holy Spirit is able to defend you from people deciding your fate in places you don’t know. They might be discussing how to fire you from work, but the Holy Ghost will work to convict their hearts to not go through with it. He functions as our legal representative against people who act as our adversaries. When people are saying evil things about you and have judged you wrongly don’t worry, your Advocate will be right there to represent your case. They might not give you a chance to defend yourself but the Holy Spirit will make sure that your name is cleared from the mud. It can be people of authority talking against you or even gathered against you. don't worry, don't try to convince them, just answer the questions you are asked and the Holy Spirit will do the rest in their hearts
5. Strengthener
And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him......Luke 22:43. The night before the crucifixion of Jesus he mentioned that his soul was exceeding sorrowful even unto death. The Bible tells us that while he was in so much agony, an Angel from heaven strengthened him. This Angel is the Holy Spirit. One of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is to strengthen the believer when it is seems like all hope is lost. When it seems like darkness has overshadowed you, the Holy Spirit is what you need to get supernatural strength to face another day.
6. Standby.
When you run out of your everything, your strength, your ideas, even solutions, the Holy Spirit will take over your entire being, you will suddenly be carried by the lifting power of God. He is like a standby generator, when you run out of electricity, and your power source shuts down, the standby generator kicks off immediately
