In Genesis 12 verse 2, the Lord spoke to Abraham and said “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing”. This statement had different meaning and interpretation to both God and Abraham, to God it was already finished, the matter was settled and in the past but to Abraham, this was a promised future. The words which were released by God almighty to Abraham, carried in them the power to produce, Isaac, Jacob, the 12 sons of Jacob, the nation of Israel, the Messiah, the church, and the ultimate second coming of Jesus Christ. Abraham’s future was now framed with Words, his path had already been decided, and his job was to walk in what was the past to God, and the future to him. Lot tried to be part of that future but he failed, Hagar and Ishmael tried to be part of that future, but they failed, anything that was not part of Prophecy in his life did not remain a part of it.
The same God spoke to Jeremiah and said, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). Jeremiah’s job was to walk in a future which was already the past to God, his future was already in the past. Ephesians 1:4 says, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world”, meaning your future is the past to God, Verse 5 says, “he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ”, meaning your path has already been decided. Our job like Abraham and Jeremiah, is to say, “yes sir, we are what you have called us” and become it and when we stand in agreement with what he has called us in his Word, anything which is not written about us will not remain a part of our lives, just like Hagar, Ishmael, and Lot could not remain in the life of Abraham. His Word has called us strong, healthy, peaceful, joyful, rich, blessed, favored, fruitful, excellent, wise, and our job is to say the same thing in consent.
