The human spirit looks exactly like the physical body, just like the body he has eyes, ears, and feelings. For example the spirit man sees with the imagination, and feels with intuition. He also has muscles like the physical body, his own are called faith. Just as Physical muscles need to be developed, so are spiritual ones. “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things” (1 Timothy 4:8). Your life on earth will be determined by the spiritual muscles you have, whether you live or die is up to you. How you respond to adversity will be based on your level of spiritual strength. The Bible says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small” (Proverbs 24:10).
There are two ways to build spiritual muscles, the first is through the Word of God; and the second way is through prayer. The Word of God is food for the human spirit, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” (Acts 20:32). The only way you will respond to life is through the amount of God’s word in your spirit, without the Word in you, you are sunk. You must build a reservoir of the Word in your spirit by continually feeding on the scriptures, so that when trouble strikes you can run to your spirit for answers. Secondly, every prayer that you make builds up in the realm of the spirit, some of it will be answered in your children and their children. Prayer will outlive you, it will save you against future demonic attacks which are being planned against you life. Prayer is what will position you to be in the right place at the right time for advantage.
